  1. What is Investors Capital Corporation?

    Investors Capital Corporation (ICC) is the dually-registered independent Broker/Dealer and Investment Advisory firm of Investors Capital Holdings, Ltd. (NYSE: Amex ICH). Founded in 1992, and headquartered in Lynnfield, Mass., ICC is registered to conduct business in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia through a network of approximately 550 financial advisors.

  2. What is a Broker/Dealer?

    A Broker/Dealer is a company/organization that trades securities for its own account or on behalf of its customers. When executing trade orders on behalf of a customer, the institution is said to be acting as a broker. When executing trades for its own account, the institution is said to be acting as a dealer.

  3. How do Broker/Dealers benefit investment professionals and their clients?

    Broker/Dealers help its investment professionals with support services, technology, and business resources. This saves your investment professional time and allows him/her to focus on you and your financial objectives.

  4. Why do investment professionals choose Investors Capital Corporation?

  6. Who is Pershing LLC?

    Pershing LLC is our clearing firm that handles our trades, settlement, and delivery of stocks and securities (see next question). Founded in 1939, Pershing has over $715.8 billion* in assets in custody and serves approximately 1,150* Broker/Dealers and money managers worldwide.   7. What is a clearing firm?

    Investors Capital clears through Pershing LLC, a division of Bank of New York Mellon. A financial clearing firm, also called a clearing house, is a financial organization that handles trades, settlement, and delivery of stocks and securities. A clearing firm is usually a member of all the national stock exchanges, such as New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, which allows it to place trades, settle accounts, and match real-time buyers and sellers of securities. Many smaller investment firms do not have the capability to execute stock trades on their own, so they go through a clearing firm to conduct the business for their clients. Hence, the terminology: "clear" through a clearing firm. Some firms have their own clearing operations and can clear their own trades. They are called “self-clearing”.

  9. What is SIPC, and how does it protect my investments?

    Through SIPC (Securities Investor Protection Corporation), your account at Investors Capital Corporation will be protected up to $500,000 per customer, of which $250,000 may be cash claims. This protects your account if a SIPC firm fails financially and is unable to meet its obligations; however, it does not protect against market value losses.
